Mazda will show a concept for a minicar designed for crowded European cities at the Paris Auto Show next month. The futuristic little Kiyora builds on the look of recent Mazda concepts such as the Nagare and Ryuga. Mazda’s new design theme is inspired by traditional Japanese art forms. Mazda says it will influence the look of future production models.

Auto stocks took a beating Wednesday, with few losing less than the 4% that the Dow Jones Industrial Average gave back. Shares of General Motors Corp., for instance, fell 91 cents, or 8.4%, to $9.93. Toyota Motor Corp. shares fell $4.70, or 5.3%, to $83.90. And shares of axle maker Dana Corp. plunged 71 cents, or 10.8%, to $5.85.

The second annual Kozminski Charity Car Show to benefit police charities is to be held Saturday at Centerpointe Mall in Grand Rapids. The show, hosted by the Michigan Grand Prix Club, is to be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is open to rods, customs, muscle and classic cars, motorcycles and trucks. Police and fire vehicles also will be on display.
